Turkey’s first indigenous helicopter developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), made its first international flight demonstration at the Farnborough International Airshow in the UK.


At this exhibition, one of the most prestigious events in the aviation and defence industry, GÖKBEY demonstrated Turkey’s progress in aviation technology and its international competitiveness.
GÖKBEY performed a seven-minute flight demonstration on the first day of the Farnborough International Airshow. GÖKBEY, which will perform four flights between 22 and 26 July, attracted great interest in the international arena.



Mehmet Demiroğlu, General Manager of TAI, said that the exhibition clearly demonstrated the state of the art in aviation technologies, adding, “It’s very important for our country that GÖKBEY will perform flights at Farnborough. There is a serious demand for our product and we would like to announce export news in the near future”.



TAI establishes strategic cooperation with Martin-Baker and GE

Mehmet Demiroğlu, General Manager of TAI, announced during the Farnborough Air Show that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Martin-Baker and General Electric. 


Martin-Baker is a world-renowned British defence and aerospace company. The company is best known for its ejection seats for fighter jets and other military aircraft.
General Electric (GE) is a world leader in aircraft engines and related technologies. It manufactures engines and parts for commercial, military and general aviation. 


GE Aviation announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with TEI to evaluate and collaborate on the integration of the F404 engine into the new HÜRJET aircraft variants.


In addition to GÖKBEY, TAI exhibited other advanced technology products such as the HÜRJET jet trainer, HÜRKUŞ, T129 ATAK helicopter, AKSUNGUR, ANKA and ANKA III.

One-to-one scale models of GÖKBEY and HÜRJET were also displayed at the exhibition. TAI’s extensive participation showcased Turkey’s technological capabilities and ambitions in the aerospace and defence industry.


The Farnborough International Airshow stands out as a platform where new international procurement and cooperation agreements are expected to be signed. Significant collaborations and agreements are expected to be signed during the event with the participation of major international aerospace and defence companies such as RTX Corporation, Boeing and Lockheed Martin.
